- Bible Bowl: questions will come from Joshua chapters 1-12 and attached are church doctrine and history from which questions will also be asked during the Bible Bowl.
- Spelling Bee: the word list is attached for grades 1-12.
- The mathematics competition is open to all youth in grades 3-12. Each youth will be assigned to the appropriate age group and grade level category for the competition. There will be an allotted time to complete the math problems. There will be a variety of math questions measuring competency in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and word problems.
- Oratorical / Written Essay: topic this year is “What continual practices can the church implement to retain, motivate and encourage youth to engage in church ministry?”
- Art: Judges will assign points to five areas for each contestant. Total scores from the individual judges will be combined. The highest total in each category will determine the winner. The areas being judged are:
· Use of Space
· Balance
· Colors
· Originality
· Overall Presentation - Talent: The categories are:
- Gospel comedy
- Instrumental music
- Solo,duet, trio
- Youth choir or chorale
- Lip sync
- Mime praise
- Dance
- Spoken Word

The Oratorical topic for the 2023 SMM competition is:
“What continual practices can the church implement to retain, motivate and encourage youth to engage in church ministry?

TALENT
Age Level: 5-7, 8-10, 11-15 and 16-21.
Categories:
• Music (gospel or classical vocalists, instrumentals, solo, duets, trios)
• Dance (praise dance, drill teams and step teams)
• Drama (dramatic presentations, mime, spoken word and rap.
(May be groups or individuals)
MATH:
The Mathematics Competition is open to all youth in grades 3-12. Students with a strong background in mathematics are encouraged to participate. Each participant will be assigned to the appropriate age/grade level and category of the competition. Each round will be given an allotted time for the exercises. There will be a variety of mathematical exercises measuring basic operations in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and word problems.
